OWERRI — Angry reactions have
continued to trail the mindless killing of innocent students of Federal
Government College, FGC, Bunu Yadi, Yobe State, by the Boko Haram sect as
Governor Rochas Okorocha of Imo State and the Anglican Bishop of Okigwe South,
Rt. Rev. David Onuoha, have described it as “senseless, mindless, dastardly,
horrifying and ugly to extreme.”
Similarly, the leadership of a
non-governmental organisation, Move On Nigeria, MON, called for urgent solution
to the Boko Haram menace.
Governor Okorocha, who made his
feelings known during an interactive session with Imo traditional rulers in
Owerri, also wondered why anybody or group would rise, for whatever reason and
brutally murder a fellow citizen.
“The mindless killing of several
students of Federal Government College, Bunu Yadi, Yobe State, by Boko Haram,
is condemnable,” Okorocha said.
In his own reaction, Bishop Onuoha
said: “There cannot be any justification for this dastardly act. The morbid
spectacle is reprehensible and horrifying.”
He recalled with grief that “the
youngsters had finished their work for the day and were actually sleeping in
their hostels when the messengers of death unleashed unimaginable terror on the
hapless students.”
He reminded traditional rulers in
all the states of the federation that they had roles to play in securing their
domains, adding that no meaningful development could be recorded in an
atmosphere of chaos and insecurity
